The Tips You Need to Keep Your Baby’s Teeth in Pristine Condition

Posted .

Do you want to keep your baby’s smile in tip-top shape? If so, then our Barry Family Dental dental team has the helpful tips and information you need! There are many things you need to do on a regular basis to give your baby the top-notch oral health and smile they deserve. Those things are:

Use fluoride: Fluoride is a beneficial mineral you can find in natural resources. You can also find fluoride in tap water. So, please expose your baby’s teeth to fluoride by giving them water in their bottle or by mixing their formula with water. This should be enough to strengthen and nourish your baby’s teeth. However, for more details on when to give your baby water and how much to give them, please call your pediatrician.

Clean their smile: When cleaning your baby’s little chompers, use a little baby toothbrush that has soft bristles, a small head, and a large handle. At first, soak the brush with water and gently scrub the little teeth. Feel free to ask your dentist when you should introduce toothpaste to your child’s smile. Once your child gets older, like around 3 years old, you can use a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste to clean your child’s smile.

Be careful with bottle feedings: If you tend to fill your baby’s bottle with sugary liquid, your child may be vulnerable to baby bottle tooth decay. So, make sure you only put breastmilk, formula, and water in your child’s bottle. Also, do your best to avoid sending your child to bed with a bottle.
