Gum Recession: The Causes

What have you heard about gum recession? Sadly, gum recession can be a fairly serious issue that you could have to deal with. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to deal with gum recession. In fact, there are many symptoms you should be able to recognize from your own home. If you are suffering from swollen, painful, or tender gums, you may have gum recession. Brown spots on your gums and pearly whites which seem to have gotten longer are signs of recession. Similarly, there are a number of things we can do to treat gum recession.

You see, gum recession is caused by a few different issues. Fortunately, if you treat these causes, your gum recession could revert. You might be able to reverse this problem simply by brushing your teeth gently or by using a new toothbrush with softer bristles. In fact, brushing too hard or using a toothbrush that has hard bristles could actually injure your pearly whites and lead to gum recession. Teeth grinding is another cause of gum recession. However, you might be grinding your teeth and not even know it. If you are grinding your teeth at night, you can recognize it if you have frequent headaches, cracked or chipped teeth, or gum recession—we suggest setting up with us as at your earliest convenience.
